The World Cup began on June 11, 2026, at the legendary Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. Mexico’s opening ceremony was a vibrant celebration of tradition and heritage, featuring Aztec dancers, folkloric music, and a stadium draped in national colors. 

Match (Group A): Mexico vs South Africa 
- Result: Mexico 2 – 1 South Africa 
- Highlights: Mexico’s attacking flair thrilled the home crowd, while South Africa fought bravely to keep the score close. 

CANADA — DIVERSITY AND MULTICULTURALISM 
On June 12, Toronto staged Canada’s first‑ever World Cup opening ceremony. The theme was diversity, expressed through a mosaic‑style reimagining of the FIFA Trophy and performances by Alanis Morissette, Michael Bublé, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, Vegedream, and William Prince. The bilingual spirit of English and French echoed Canada’s multicultural identity. 

Match (Group C): Canada vs Bosnia 
- Result: Canada 1 – 1 Bosnia

Match (Group D): USA vs Paraguay 
- Result: USA 2 – 0 Paraguay

TRI‑NATION RELAY
